Bishop Carl Shurte first received the Holy Ghost at the tender age of thirteen. Called to preach at age fifteen, he assisted his pastor in his home church in Pensacola, FL until he found the love of his life, Patsy Collins, and determined in his heart to marry her. Carl and Patsy Shurte married in 1959 and launched out into fulltime evangelism.

They used their vocal and musical talents to record albums as well as sing with national recording artists such as The Rambos and The McGruder’s. Preaching numerous revivals, conferences, and camp meetings, God blessed their ministry to grow and prosper with many souls being saved and lives changed over the years.

In 1966, the Shurte’s accepted the role of pastor at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Augusta, GA. After 15 years of growth and revival, God spoke to Bro. Shurte to resign and move to West Monroe, LA. Bro. Carl Shurte became the pastor of Living Way Apostolic Church in 1981.

The Shurte’s vision and leadership has taken Living Way Apostolic Church to exciting heights of spiritual growth and relationship with God. Bishop Shurte has mentored countless preachers over the years that have thriving established ministries today because he planted a seed of commitment to prayer and relationship to God in each one. A wonderful burden for foreign missions sparked a work in Yugoslavia that has grown into twenty churches and thirty preachers The vision of Restoration Revival remains strong at Living Way after many years of consistent prayer, sacrifice and outstanding leadership.
